Current Projects
redlands hill conservation crew
The Redlands Hill Conservation Crew was rebooted in 2025 with an aim to keep on top of maintenance and encourage conservation at the 61 ha Crown Land site. For decades, volunteers from Corowa District Landcare have cared for
Redlands Hill, maintaining it as a valuable natural space for visitors to enjoy and for local ecosystems to thrive. This informal and friendly monthly meetup offers a chance to contribute to the Reserve’s upkeep while exchanging ideas and collaborating on conservation efforts to support its ecological communities.
threatened orchid conservation
The Oaklands Donkey Orchid or Oaklands Diuris (Diuris callitrophila) is listed as Endangered in NSW. In a collaborative effort, more than six thousand native orchids have been planted across the NSW Murray region as part of Australia’s largest orchid translocation project, saving these species from extinction.
RIVER STREET WETLANDS
Restoring and managing the River Street Wetlands is creating a thriving nature hub in the centre of Corowa. Led by the Friends of River Street Wetlands, regular working bees and community efforts are demonstrating ever-changing improvement in site condition.
saving the nectar sippers / birds on farms
In a partnership between BirdLife Australia, West Hume Landcare and Corowa District Landcare, the Southern NSW Birds on Farms project, Saving the Nectar Sippers, is running in the South West Slopes region of southern NSW until August 2026. Its key focus is on driving the implementation of private land management approaches to assist recovery of declining woodland birds.
